The EmancipatorWE SERVE IN THE KINGDOM
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
— Ephesians 4:12
Contrary to what some people think, the work of the ministry is not limited to pastors, apostles, prophets, evangelists and teachers. Every child of God is a minister and must do the work of ministry. The apostle, pastor, etc. are gifts given to the body of Christ to train and equip us for ministry. The work of the ministry is whatever we as individuals and as a church are enabled and directed by the Holy Spirit through our structured leadership to do as our contribution to the corporate calling in fulfilment of purpose. Broadly, these are categorized as ministering to the Lord (Acts 13:2), ministering to the church (Ephesians 4:16) and ministering to the world (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:15). A kingdom-cultured son of God is an active minister and not a pew warmer. He contributes meaningfully to the spread of the gospel through prayer, preaching and partnership and avails himself to contribute earnestly to the building of the body through service in the house of God. This keeps you relevant in the kingdom.
I affirm that I am relevant in the kingdom. I actively engage in the work of ministry by ministering to the Lord, to the church and to my world, in Jesus' Name.
