And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent
— John 17:3
We have so far understood that scripturally, eternal life is a person and that is Jesus Christ. We understood how that includes the era of His kingdom and the virtues of His life-giving being. What then is eternal life to us? As clearly stated in the verse above, eternal life is simply the experience of an intimate knowledge of Yahweh our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord and Brother. "Ginōskō" is the type of knowledge used here. It is the Greek counterpart of the Hebrew word, "yâda‛" and it means intimate knowledge of a person. When sons of God get to intimately know the Godhead, they will truly appreciate what eternal life is. It is more than words can describe. It is the state of being as a divine one. Glory!
Dear Father, eternal life is my portion in Christ. I, therefore, yield myself to know You intimately for the experience of eternal life, in Jesus' Name.
