The EmancipatorIF DEATH REIGNED, WHY NOT LIFE?
That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord
— Romans 5:21
Starting from Romans 5:12, we realize that it was the entrance of sin into the world that brought the world into the realm of death and therefore, death reigned. And it did so absolutely! The powerful phrase here is the, "even so". It is from the Greek expression, "kai houtō", which is "and in this manner". It brings out the idea of something done to the same degree. So, reading the verse with this in mind, is, "To the same degree that death which came through sin by Adam reigned, eternal life which came through grace and righteousness by Jesus Christ, also reigns". That means in this Christ era, life's reign is absolute. Yet, the taste of the old wine of death is still so sweet on the tongue of humanity that it is taking time for the world to taste the new wine of the realm of life. Just think a bit, "If the realm of death in Adam reigned absolutely in this world, why should it be thought impossible that life in Jesus Christ can do same?"
Dear Holy Spirit, I speak forth Your intense ministry of enlightenment into the heart of all people on earth to perceive the reality of the immortality in Christ with ease, in Jesus' Name.
